Stacey Shipe, LMSW

Dr. Stacey Shipe, PhD, LMSW, has been a social work professional for over 20 years. She received her MSW from New York University where her training focused on clinical practice with a psychoanalytic emphasis, her Masters of Evidence-based Social Work from Oxford University where she was trained in the effects of intergenerational trauma in families, and a PhD in social work from the University of Maryland. Her PhD training centered on the implementation of evidence-based interventions in child welfare systems. The culmination of her experiences allows her to provide an in-person therapeutic environment that is safe, accepting, and without judgment.

Dr. Stacey has experience working with children, adolescents, and families. She uses a client-centered, humanistic approach, along with psychoeducation from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Stacey pulls from Narrative Family Therapy and Family Systems Theory in the therapeutic process while keeping careful consideration of cultural concerns and practices. She has experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma-related diagnoses, and a variety of other life experiences. Stacey firmly believes that with the necessary tools and skills it is easier to identify triggers, notice warning signs, and find ways to better prepare for oncoming stressors and challenges.

In her free time, Stacey enjoys spending time with her friends and family, exploring the Finger Lakes region, listening to the latest electronic dance music, and honing her trivia skills. She is also an avid book reader with a penchant for historical fiction.
