Kristin Colbert, LMSW

Kristin received her master’s degree in social work from Binghamton University and is available to provide service in person in the Ithaca, NY office, and beyond, via telehealth. Kristin believes that focusing on mental and emotional well-being is essential to overall health and life satisfaction. She has a person-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach and enjoys working collaboratively with individuals and families to help identify goals that work toward improved life satisfaction.

Kristin focuses on the person in their environment, and how functioning and relationships may be impacted by anxiety and depression. Kristin employs a combination of treatment approaches to meet individual needs. She has an empathic manner and utilizes techniques from Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. She is certified as an AutPlay Therapist with a special interest in working with individuals and supporting families navigating anxiety and neurodivergent diagnoses, such as Selective Mutism, ADHD, and Autism. Kristin finds that psychoeducation, including mindfulness practices, can help individuals develop personal coping skills and can help families negotiate difficult times.

In her free time, Kristin enjoys spending time with her family and friends, walking, gardening, and kayaking.
