Erica Hostetler, LMSW

Located in Ithaca, NY

As a psychotherapist at Whole Wellness Counseling, Erica shares decades of experience with people of all ages and identities as they navigate complex life transitions. Erica’s approach to counseling is person-centered, strength-based, and trauma-informed. She has specialized clinical experience working with people who struggle with anxiety, depression, traumatic brain injury, disability, chronic illness, and those nearing the end of life. She especially enjoys creating a supportive, safe space for people in BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and TGNC/NB communities.

Erica compassionately helps individuals and families navigate career and family changes, healthy aging, caregiver roles, and end-of-life support. She has extensive experience working with LGBTQ+ community members through significant life transitions, assisting with identity exploration and development, navigating relationships, and identifying goals and hopes for the future. She is a certified trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness instructor, and brings that expertise into the therapeutic process.

Before settling in the Finger Lakes region, Erica received her master’s in social work (MSW) from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, after earning her bachelor's degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. She has provided individual, family, and organizational consultation and interventions at Kendal at Ithaca, Hospice of the Finger Lakes, Ithaca Hospicare and Palliative Care, and the Women’s Opportunity Center.

In her free time, Erica enjoys seeking the magic of nature while hiking through the woods. She journals, writes poetry, and daily meditates and practices yoga. When not moving, you can find her resting with her cat, Leroy van der Floof, who insists on lots of lap time.
