Dominic Sims

MSW Intern & Practice Support Specialist

Dominic Sims is in his first year as an MSW student at Keuka College. He graduated from Saint Peter’s University with a bachelor’s degree in History in 2006. After a varied career in professional sports, energy advising, and the craft brewing industry, Dominic found himself increasingly drawn to work that focused on human connection and healing, particularly in light of the widespread trauma, loss, and change brought on by the pandemic. Dominic’s path toward clinical social work has been shaped by years of experience in leadership, community-building, and personal growth, from organizing community fundraisers in the craft beverage industry that supported LGBTQ+ youth and mental health services to caring for loved ones through addiction and chronic illness.

Throughout Dominic’s life, he has filled the roles of listener, mediator, and supporter. These experiences have cultivated in him a deep compassion, a respect for human dignity, and a growing awareness of how systems impact the most vulnerable among us.

Dominic believes in meeting people where they are and working alongside them without judgment. Whole Wellness Counseling’s commitment to holistic, client-centered care aligns deeply with his values. Dominic is excited to learn from his supervisors and clients in a setting that prioritizes compassion, a systems-based approach, and evidence-based therapies.

When Dominic is not studying or working, he enjoys walking and swimming with his wife and his dog. He also loves gardening and exploring the Finger Lakes region.
